My name is Velcro and I’m the feline domestic shorthair who can blog. I used to be a feral cat living under a shed in Hurst, Texas. My left ear is clipped because I had been spayed by a catch and release program for cats like me. I often spied on the Cross Family, but did not make contact for a long time. Finally I couldn’t take it anymore. Ear mites and fleas were my only companions… I guess you could say I was “itching” to make real friends. I allowed myself to be petted by the Cross Family and the rest is history. They took me in, fed me, loved me…and treated me with Revolution to rid me of my pests and parasites. My happy tendency to “make biscuits” earned me the name Velcro because I stick to everything (owner’s laps primarily).

I am grateful for this platform to express my thoughts and opinions; few cats have this type of opportunity. Dr. Cross is really taking a huge risk by handing her website blog over to me. But… I intend to use my powers for good and give a healthy feline perspective on medical topics. Sometimes my napping schedule is pretty hectic, so in those moments I’ll have my dog Tipsy fill in for me. I know I’m supposed to end this blog with something like “I welcome your feedback”… but I’m a cat and I’m incapable of comprehending criticism. I will do my best however, to answer questions as they come up.
